Several months ago, I received a message from Amanda, who has had me take her family photos for the last 5 years or so, saying that she wanted me to photograph an anniversary party. All of her husband’s brothers and sisters were getting together to plan a surprise. I was the ruse. Since everyone was going to be in town at the same time, they told her in-laws that they booked a photographer to take family photos.
The surprise went off without a hitch. Everyone had a great time. It’s wonderful to see just how much they love each other after 40 years of marriage! After the surprise, it was time for speeches and mingling. I took some more family portraits, candids, and pictures of the kids. Congratulations on 40 years of marriage, Ken and Lou Ann!
Once or twice every year, I take pictures of my twin and her family. This time, we were celebrating the birthdays of her two girls, who are now 7 and 2. It had been quite some time since I’d been to Mill Race Village (which now charges an arm and a leg for photographers to shoot there… but this was for family), so we decided to try it out. I hope you enjoy their pictures!

Thank you for coming to my page to enter the Livonia Spree Giveaway!
My husband, Andy, is on the Spree Committee. He’s there every day starting the Saturday before until the day after Spree ends. Since our family so involved, I thought it would be fun to give away a photo shoot in celebration. Here’s how you enter:
1) Give me your name and email address (to reach you if you win) in the comments section below
2) Tell me your favorite thing about the Spree this year
That’s it! I will do a random drawing on Tuesday, July 1st and announce the winner. The winner will receive one complimentary photo shoot with a $50 credit towards prints and products. The shoot must be redeemed by January 1, 2015.
Thank you for attending the Spree, and for visiting my page. I hope you have a great time!
Two days after Christmas, I met the O’Dea family in the Embassy Suites Livonia hotel to take pictures of the family in the atrium. Being late December, it was a bit chilly outside to take pictures with several small children, so we made the best of the plants inside the building. Altogether, there were 31 of them. They are normally spread around the country, so they wanted to capture a time when they had everyone together.

Happy Saturday! We woke up today and were greeted by a lawn covered with a thick layer of snow. My kids were so confused, since it seemed like Spring was coming, and all of a sudden we’re covered with snow again. This year is a crazy contrast from last year, when it was around 80 degrees in March. Well, the vision of snow was enough to cause my 4 year old to immediately get himself dressed and request some snow play. Personally, I’m quite partial to warm weather. There’s something about kids though, they get you wrapped up in their excitement. So we played, threw snowballs, and I secretly hoped that this is winter’s last hurrah.
For fun, I thought I’d show you a glimpse of what we were up to on March 14, 2012. Gotta love Michigan.
She’s here! My 7th niece (I also have 3 nephews). Her name is Karen, and she is soooooo cute! Ok, I’m biased, but she really is. After anxiously waiting all day, my husband came home and I raced over to the hospital as fast as I could! Then little Karen had the audacity to eat for the first hour or so that I was there. Finally, I got to hold her. My sister, D’Arcy is doing great. Tired, of course, but great. I’m so proud of her! She is so happy to finally be able to give her older daughter, Autumn, the sister she’s been begging for. I can’t wait to snuggle that little baby again. Newborn portraits coming soon!
This past summer some good friends of mine had a their first baby. They waited a very long time to be able to have a baby, and we were all so excited for them. I have never seen them glow so much. Motherhood makes my friend shine, and it just melts my heart. They asked me to take 6 month portraits for them. Since it is a bit miserable outside in February in Michigan, we did them in my Livonia home studio. I’m looking forward to shooting some more pictures of him in the lush, beautiful world of summer soon. Ah… summer. I miss you so much! This year I’ll be working on landscaping the backyard at our new home to make it a great place to take pictures. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as we make progress on that. In the cold and slushy meantime, here are some adorable pictures of Baby C! I just love his clear blue eyes and absolutely infectious smile.
