About Nicole

Metro Detroit area portrait photographer, Nicole Mehelich is known for creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere for her clients. While much of her business is focused on family and child portraiture, she also photographs headshots, glam/boudoir, seniors, events and couples.

Nicole has a studio available (sometimes a must in the cold Michigan winters), but loves to go on-location in a client’s home or a unique outdoor setting. She enjoys discovering new places, especially those that are unexpected. She has shot at a variety of parks, backyards, downtown locations, and hidden gems off the beaten path. If you have an interesting idea for a location, just say so!

Nicole has had a passion for photography since the age of 13. Her father, a photographer himself, gave her a vintage Ciro-flex camera and taught her how to process film and make prints in his home darkroom. By high school, she had a reputation for having a camera with her at all times.

Do you only shoot on-location?

I often shoot on-location. At a park, in your home, at a museum... anywhere. For those who would rather come to a studio, I do also have an in-home studio space. For newborns, I'll usually have you come to the studio, but if I can, I'll use natural light in the studio so that I don't startle them. Order sessions are at my home studio.

How much does it cost?

To reserve a one-hour photo session, there is a non-refundable $250 retainer, due within five days of booking your session to hold the date. This can be applied to your order*. We offer 8×10″ gift prints starting at $15 and portrait collections beginning at $380. The average Nicole Mehelich Photography client invests $500-$2,500 on their photography. Most sessions produce 30-40 finished images from which to choose. The 30-image digital collection is $1200 and includes a photobook with all of the images. *$250 print/product/digital credit is included in the retainer.
